To be introduced at glasstec 2008: Glassmod – new easy-to-operate software to define model panes

Glass manufacturers and major glass suppliers have confronted this matter again and again. Whenever window panes will be ordered or manufactured which are not exactly rectangular or square-formatted, problems may come up when one has to exactly define the shape of the product on order. Measurement and exact description will be all the more difficult, the more unusual the glass panel geometry. Such issues quite often result in wrong interpretations and faulty supplies, if the worst comes to the worst.

Even today, suppliers quite often use hard paper board or similar materials to make templates for model panes. In the view of the MKT software developers, such approaches are not only out of date but also very imprecise in the present age of data processing. The definition of such a model is only the first difficulty. Numerous staff in German glass manufacturing companies are also kept busy every day to interpret drawings, to understand numbers and to combine all of them into some shape fit for further acting on. Such approach involves a considerable waste of time and frequently requires contacting the customer for additional information.

User-friendly Glassmod 1.0 menus facilitate the definition of model panes. A manufacturer may be contacted to forward product files saved. Over and above the graphical elements of the model pane, this file will also come with any measurements required.

Glasmod, presented by MKT at glasstec 2008, is the first-ever software, enabling the customer to define the model unambiguously and finally. As MKT puts it, its new software enables a customer to provide precise and unambiguous data, which can be fed into diverse operational controls without any difficulty. As the software company declares, manufacturers and processing companies, supplying this type of software to their customers avoid lots of extra work and hassle when making model panes. To guarantee smooth data transfer, a company-oriented interface, with links to the manufacturer, is used for transmission.
