ABSTRACT:
The laser cutting quality of glass mainly depends on the chosen processing approach. Using ultra short pulsed lasers offers the possibility for a very confined energy deposition, resulting in high quality laser cuts. The presented approach is based on ultrafast non-Gaussian line focus with localized material modifications. Laser processing examples are displayed from lab to production regarding quality and tact time.
VITA:
Dr. Stute studied physics and received his PhD in 2001 from Univ. Rennes. Then he joined Laserzentrum Hannover, where he later headed the department „Produktion und Systemtechnik“. Further stages have been the innovation management of TRUMPF Laser with a focus on micro machining. After re-joining the LZH and a two years period at 4Jet he joined Corning Laser Technologies. Dr. Stute is actively working glass machining since he first joined LZH in 2001.
