Linear Servo-Feeder VG

for series production with variable gob weights

Flexible, malleable and digitally controlled plunger stroke profiles replace the mechanical cam.
The VG 4 supplies up to 12 variable gob weights with a weight range of up to +/- 35 % (soda lime glass) of the average weight.
The VGx, developed by WALTEC, has been applied with great success in the packaging glass industry for small and medium batch sizes. For the multiple gob operation, up to four independent mechanisms operate on one feeder head.

Automatic glass gatherer Robot V

The automatic WALTEC glass gatherer ROBOT V is designed for feeding glass machines with glass gobs.  It has been designed in such a way that also two machines with different glass weights can be fed. A point or oblong-shaped glass portion, for example for oval articles, can be supplied.

Blow–Blow machine B–series

With the blow-blow machine, WALTEC again consequently follows its strategy to replace pneumatic drives as well as conventional three-phase motors with servo drive technology.

Linear feeder, servo driven shear (linear or angle) and gob delivery system are manufactured with the well-known WALTEC technology. The sturdy and precise running main drive of the machine allows the feeding of the working table with a perfect synchronized motion. The gearless direct driven transfer arm follows the rotation of the working table without any mechanical support.

Prepressing is realized by a servo rack and pinion. Independent servo drives for working table- and bottom-rotation and servo drive for the bottom stroke permit easily adjustable twisted optics and decorated bottom designs. Hereby, we achieve the best repeatability and a stable process for start-up, job change and production.

Central lubrication as well as oil circulating lubrication for gears and bearings are WALTEC standard. They guarantee longest production cycles without any maintenance.

According to the control-systems for our press-blow lines and spinning lines, we have minimized the electrical components on top of the machine. A slipring transfers the power. For the highest reliability, the control signals are transferred redundant via Ethernet and industrial wireless LAN.

With the blow-blow machine, WALTEC has developed and built an user-optimized machine, according to the requirements of the glass manufacturers. In combination with the WALTEC stem press, a production line of the latest state of the art for manufacturing highest quality tumblers and stem ware is available.

WALTEC supplies presses for every glass article which can be pressed, as well as for all production speeds and capacities.
The modular designed glass presses are adjusted to the customer’s predetermined production sequence by using the proven basic machines, and they stand out due to their robust construction. The pressing cylinder has been designed as a controlled servohydraulic axis. The pressing procedure can be adjusted with accurate repetition to the respective article by the speed control and pressure regulated pressing curves.The indexing table of the press is time-relay controlled through a servo-regulated direct drive without a gear unit.

TG-flex line

The highlight is our “flex press”. This enables a flexible production either in single gob operation or double gob operation with and without split moulds or in triple gob operation with block moulds.

This flexibility is possible due to the WALTEC linear feeder, that has one feeder mechanism for every single orifice ring. In triple gob operation all three feeders work. In double gob operation, the left and right feeders work and the middle one is in its highest position and also the spout in the mid is closed. In single gob operation it is reverse – only the middle feeder works and the left and right ones are in their highest position.

This production line is predestined for medium and large lot sizes up to a speed of 150 pcs. /min.

The configuration reduces the investment costs. Instead of two lines and two forehearths, one forehearth and one production line are sufficient.

Direct drive

For 12 years WALTEC has been using gearless, electric direct drives for the manufacture of glass machines with much success.
Due to this reason we have used the direct drive as standard table drive for all high-performance press machines since 2010.

The special design developed by WALTEC (among other things the segmented coils) offers an extremely high operating reliability. WALTEC manufactures these direct drives, as one of their core competences, in-house.

Advantages of the direct drives in this field:
- high torques of up to 70.000 Nm
- short table indexing times (up to 0,25 seconds)
- smooth movements, free from backlash and jolt
- online drive supervision
- virtually maintenance-free

Servo hydraulics

Glass producers compensate the permanent cost pressure by higher output and more energy-efficient production lines. The standard hydraulics does not meet these requirements (image 1) any more.

Caused by the design the three-phase motor has to deliver nearly full performance, although it would only be necessary during pressing. Valve indexing times and limited dynamics reduce the necessary process times and thus the production speed.

Electrical press systems, realised via servomotor and recirculating ball screw, are maintenanceintensive, and the mechanic parts are susceptible in comparison with the hydraulics.

The WALTEC engineers have developed the servo pump (image 2). Hydraulics without valves, where its pump/s is/are driven by servomotor.

The resulting high accelerations and speeds do not reach the conventional standard systems. With the WALTEC servo hydraulics the operator has at his disposal considerably longer process times with higher production speeds. Caused by the design the motor power is only needed during pressing, permitting energysavings of up to 80%.

Also remarkable: The system works without heat exchanger (oil cooler) and only needs approx. 30 liters of hydraulic oil, when having production lines up to 16 tons of pressing force, which means EFFICIENCY PURE.

Press-blow machine W-series

Our press-blow machine is the consequent further development of the conventional process, where high-quality hollow glasses are produced by pre-forming, pre-pressing and blowing, both in rotation blown-ware operation and in non-rotation blown-ware operation.

Contrary to the well-known machine concept, where the process movements, such as pre-pressing and others, are realised pneumatically, WALTEC replaced the pneumatic drives, which could only be adjusted in a dissatisfying way, by the latest servo technology in all ranges. That means, all movements of pressing plungers, pre-mould and article support are realised with servo technology. For the first time the press-blow process becomes transparent, can be controlled exactly and is reproducible.

Thus, all movements have a very high repeat accuracy, resulting in high process stability.

Furthermore, WALTEC met the requirements of the market for bigger products. Our machine is fi t to produce articles with the following maximum dimensions.

- max. diameter: 160 mm
- max. height: 350 mm

In connection with our burn-off as well as laser crack-off machines we enable our customers to produce stem ware in high quality, increasing the range of application and consequently the effi ciency of the machine essentially.

Spinning machines

WALTEC spinning machines are available with up to 24 stations. The 1, 2 and 3-station spinning machines have especially been designed for large articles of up to 750 mm diameter and can be operated with parted moulds, with ring and stamping tools.
WALTEC spinning machines are supplied with automatic glass gatherer or feeder depending on the required capacity.
The 24-station high-capacity spinning machine produces up to 100 articles per minute. Every single spinning spindle can be controlled separately. Due to this, the process sequence can be ideally set for the individual article. Acceleration values, variable speed profi les and highest speed stability during the work process can be ensured by servo-motors.
All machines can be equipped with fully automatic vacuum suction take-out and transportation into the annealing lehr.
Together with our feeder mechanism for variable gob weights and the fl exible control system it is possible to produce different glass articles with various weights and designs. This fl exibility enables our customers to effi ciently produce small order quantities without increased changeover times and tool costs.

Fire polishing

The consumer market demands an improved surface quality of pressed glass articles. WALTEC  meets this demand through consistent utilisation of the latest gas/oxygen burner systems on product-specifi c designed machines. The article transport can be exactly synchronised with the servo-drive technology and tracking burner system. As shown in the diagrams, WALTEC uses lengths-optimised burners. Compared to the operation with uninterrupted standard burners, energy savings up to 50% are possible. WALTEC is able to offer always the right fire polishing machine for quality improvement, regardless of whether it is for round, rectangular or oval articles.

Handling and Transfer Systems

Speed up to 240 cycles per minute!

Flexibility, high speed, positioning accuracy, vacuum system, gripper system – these are the main demands which are placed by our customers on the handling and transfer systems. Optimum handling and transfer systems can be planned for all glass articles through a suitable combination on the basis of WALTEC standard systems due to the modular design.

The HVM take-out is designed for maximum production speeds and maximum flexibility. Two suction head or gripping arms rotate around a vertical axis. The vertical stroke of the arms is variable in the pick-up and place positions. Due to this, no height adjustment of the take-out and/or polishing machine is necessary for different mould and article heights. The rotary and stroke movements have been realised with electrical servo-axes and the speeds adjust automatically in case of production speed changes.
