Firebrick and Insulating Firebrick Solutions

We offer the most extensive range of insulating firebrick products in the world, and access to unparalleled expertise in thermal engineering and furnace design. Our lightweight, precision-made insulating firebricks help our customers to reduce their operating costs by saving energy.

All our insulating firebricks are made from high-purity refractory clays with graduated additions of alumina for the higher temperature-rated products. Carefully graded organic fillers burn out during firing to give a uniform, controlled pore structure with:
• Excellent strength at ambient and elevated temperatures
• Outstanding insulating values across the temperature range
• Lower heat storage than denser refractories
• Very low levels of iron and other impurities
• Low reheat shrinkage

Our insulating firebrick products are suitable for use in hot face refractory linings or as back-up insulation in all types of high temperature processing of metals, petrochemicals and ceramics including:
• Primary processing furnaces for fabrication and forging of ferrous metals
• Roller hearth, reheating and forging furnaces for ferrous and non-ferrous metals
• Blast furnaces and host blast stoves for carbon bake ovens
• Flues, refining vessels and reactor chambers used in petrochemical processing
• Ceramic kilns used by manufacturers of sanitary ware, glass ware and building products
• Hobby and laboratory kilns
• Rotary lime kilns
• Fireplaces

We have the expertise to advise on the optimum insulating firebrick products for your application, and we also offer furnace design services. Contact us to learn more about how we can help improve your high temperature process and save energy.

The Technical Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials has grown through a process of strategic acquisition and consolidation. It combines the resources and expertise of its constituent companies to offer a product range and technical capability whose breadth and depth is difficult to equal. The origins of this specialist business date back to 1964 when Steatite & Porcelain Products Limited was acquired from ICI. This company was started in 1929 in the UK, but the investment by Morgan Advanced Materials plc (then The Morgan Crucible Company plc) 35 years later marked the genesis of the modern-day Technical Ceramics business.

Three further acquisitions in the UK were followed by a major milestone in the early development of the division with the acquisition of Duramic Products in New Jersey in 1986. This heralded the start of the rapid expansion of our operations in the USA.
